About This Journal

The Parlor is a biannual, peer-reviewed, open-access electronic publication founded as a way to bring together:

  • Writing Center theorists and practitioners
  • Composition Studies scholars and instructors
  • and Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) experts and advocates

Often, these individuals are engaged in complementary research agendas, challenged by analogous pedagogical issues, and concerned with similar institutional agendas; however, we rarely directly engage in challenging and meaningful conversation in hopes of learning from one another. In the spirit of crossing boundaries, The Parlor also aims at placing a higher value on student feedback by facilitating active dialogue between students and teachers. We are especially dedicated to giving our students a voice in the scholarship that both positions them as subjects and directly impacts their learning environments.
